Pain management near Basingstoke: osteopath-led support in Overton
What persistent pain is, and isn't
Pain is an experience produced by the brain and nervous system as a protective alarm. In persistent pain the alarm can stay sensitive after tissues have healed, and sleep, stress, activity levels and worries can all influence how loud it is. That doesn’t mean it’s “in your head”: the pain is real. It does mean there are often several things we can look at together.
What an appointment may involve
- Listening and assessment: your story, what you’ve tried, your goals, and an examination. If anything needs your GP or investigation, I’ll say so.
- Explaining pain: what current science says about pain, so you can make sense of your own.
- Graded activity and exercise: a plan you can manage, with video guidance on the Rehab Guru app.
- Hands-on care, if you’d like it: to ease tension or stiffness alongside the plan.
- A psychologically informed approach: setting realistic goals, pacing, and noticing what helps. This is not psychotherapy or counselling.
This is not a replacement for medical care and I can’t promise a particular result.
Who it might suit
People whose aches and pains have lasted a long time, who’ve been told “nothing shows up”, or who’d like to understand their pain better. That can include chronic back pain that hasn’t come from an injury or accident, joint pains, generalised aches and pains and fibromyalgia. If your pain is new, severe, getting worse quickly, or comes with feeling generally unwell, call me on 01256 578137 first and I’ll talk it through, or call 111.
