What I look at
Your neck, upper back and shoulders, how you move, and how your head and eyes work together when you turn. Some people notice that eye and head movement exercises are part of their plan; I’ll explain why if I suggest them.
What an appointment involves
- Your story: when it started, what makes it better or worse, work and sleep.
- Examination: movement and simple clinical tests.
- Hands-on care, if appropriate and you agree: soft-tissue work, stretching and gentle joint techniques.
- Techniques and exercises: manual techniques, the Epley manoeuvre (a head-repositioning technique that I offer; ask me about it), and neck, shoulder and head/eye-movement exercises, with videos on the Rehab Guru app.
- A plan: and honest advice on whether you need to come back.
I can’t promise a result. If you have neck pain after an injury such as whiplash, or new numbness, weakness, dizziness or severe headache, please call me on 01256 578137 and I’ll talk it through. If you think you are having a stroke, or a headache started suddenly and is extremely painful, call 999 or go to A&E. I will tell you if I think you need urgent medical care.
